Arabelle Clayden

Arabelle graduated from the University of Queensland Dental School in 1992 with first class honours and a University Medal. During this time she also gained a Bachelor of Dental Studies degree for dental research in Oral Biology and won the Hatton Award for best international dental research at an undergraduate level. She worked as a dentist in Brisbane and Sydney before returning to Brisbane to complete her Masters degree in Oral Pathology and Oral Medicine from the University of Qld in 1997. This was followed by two fellowships from the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons, one in general practice and one in the specialist stream of Oral Medicine.

Upon graduation as a specialist she gained overseas experience working in Oral Medicine in the Dublin Dental Hospital, Ireland.  She was a Senior Dental Specialist for Qld Health for 16 years which included working in the Children’s Hospital and as a member of the multidisciplinary team for Head and Neck Cancer at the Princess Alexandra Hospital and has maintained a private Oral Medicine practice in Brisbane since 2006. She has been president of the Oral Medicine Society of Australia, member of the International Association of Dental Research, the European Association of Oral Medicine and has been on the Board of Studies for Oral Medicine for the RACDS. She is a member of the Australian Dental Association and is a Fellow of the Oral Medicine Academy of Australasia.

Arabelle enjoys all aspects of Oral Medicine especially the management of mucosal disease and pre-cancerous changes in the mouth.
