Professional Teeth Whitening in Brisbane

Supporting your journey to a brighter smile

At Dent8 Dental, we offer professional teeth whitening treatments designed to enhance the natural appearance of your teeth.

Teeth whitening can be a 90min process. We use the NATURAL+ brand which utilises stabilised and ecological hydrogen peroxide.

Why consider whitening your teeth?

Over time, teeth naturally lose their brightness. Everyday habits—like drinking coffee, tea, or red wine—and lifestyle factors such as smoking can contribute to stained or discoloured teeth. Even the ageing process can lead to changes in tooth colour.

You might consider teeth whitening if:

Your teeth appear yellow or uneven in colour
You want to refresh your appearance without undergoing major dental treatment

Overall, whitening treatments support a cleaner, brighter finish.

How does teeth whitening work?

Teeth whitening treatment involves applying a dental-grade whitening gel to the surface of your teeth. This gel contains active ingredients that break down stain particles, helping to lighten the enamel. At Dent8 Dental, we offer two main types of whitening treatments:

dental chair

In-chair whitening

Performed at our Brisbane clinic, this option uses a concentrated whitening solution applied by our dental team. A specialised light may be used to activate the gel and accelerate the process. This approach allows for controlled, supervised treatment in a single visit.

Decorative element

Take-home whitening kits

Custom-fitted trays and professional whitening gel allow you to gradually whiten your teeth at home over several days or weeks. This option offers flexibility and convenience with guidance from your dentist.

Both methods can be tailored to your needs.

Tips to prepare for your appointment

Here are a few things to keep in mind in preparation for your whitening experience:

Understand what to expect

The amount that teeth will lighten from teeth whitening will vary from person to person with some people noticing a significant difference after in-chair whitening or after two to three treatments of take-home whitening and others less so. Brown mottling of enamel hypoplasia and antibiotic staining are difficult to whiten using most bleaching products. Other options that improve the colour and shape of teeth include composite resin or porcelain veneers.

The importance of a dental exam

A complete dental exam is essential to check for cavities, gum sensitivity, or soft tissue conditions that may be aggravated by bleaching chemicals. If you have active decay, using whitening products could cause pain or even irreversible damage to the tooth.

Limit staining foods after whitening

It is important to remember that after your whitening, you will have to reduce consumption of dark-coloured drinks and foods like coffee, red wine, turmeric and soy sauce.

If you’re unsure what to expect, we’ll walk you through the process and answer any questions during your consultation.

Is teeth whitening right for everyone?

Dental teeth whitening can be a great option for many people, but it’s not suitable for everyone. Restorations like crowns, veneers, or fillings won’t respond to whitening treatments, and deep internal staining may limit the effectiveness of whitening products.

Discoloured fillings or crowns will not be improved by teeth whitening and will become more obvious as the adjacent teeth become lighter. It is important to identify these areas before treatment and plans can be made to change these after the natural teeth have been whitened to achieve a harmonious result.

While a bright smile is something we all enjoy, it’s important to note that some whitening products can have side effects. We provide guidance on both the short and long-term effects of different teeth whitening systems and offer a range of in-office treatments as well as take-home whitening kits.

At your appointment, we’ll assess your oral health and goals to recommend the most appropriate whitening options for you.
