Teeth Whitening at Dent8

Are you looking to whiten your teeth? Teeth whitening at the dentist can be a simple 90min process. At Dent8 Dental, we use the NATURAL+ brand which is non-toxic, stabilized and ecological.

A healthy smile is something we all enjoy, but there are side-effects with some whitening products. We give advice on the short and long-term effects of the various teeth whitening systems and offer a range of in-house teeth whitening as well as take home whitening kits.

Before commencing teeth whitening, it is recommended that a complete examination is performed to exclude the presence of cavities, sensitive gum recession, or soft tissue conditions that can be aggravated by the bleaching chemicals. If you have active decay and use teeth whitening products you could have severe pain or even damage the tooth irreversibly.

Discoloured fillings or crowns will not be improved by teeth whitening and will become more obvious as the adjacent teeth become lighter. It is important to identify these areas before treatment and plans can be made to change these after the natural teeth have been whitened to achieve a harmonious result.

The amount that teeth will lighten from teeth whitening will vary from person to person with some people noticing a big difference after two to three treatments and others less so.

Brown mottling of enamel hypoplasia and antibiotic staining are difficult to whiten using most bleaching products. Other options that improve the colour and shape of teeth include composite resin or porcelain veneers.

How to get the best out of your teeth whitening appointment

To achieve the best long-term results, we recommend avoiding the following for 48hours after your whitening appointment:

Avoid drinking tea or coffee
Avoid drinking red wine
Avoid drinking coloured sports drinks

We will recommend remineralising products for you to use after teeth whitening procedures to help reduce sensitivity.
