The Best Teeth Whitening Options For Healthier, Whiter Teeth!

Here at Dent8 we can advise you on the most appropriate teeth whitening options for you.  Before commencing any teeth whitening treatment, it is important to have a thorough dental examination to check if there are any conditions that will affect the outcome of the teeth whitening process.

Most importantly any untreated disease such as dental decay, sensitive areas from gum recession or gum disease should be identified and treated before bleaching, as applying bleach to untreated dental disease can cause irreversible nerve damage or aggravate gum recession.

There are many teeth whitening products on the market. Some are very harsh and contain acid to soften the enamel to allow bleach to penetrate to the dentine and are not recommended by our practice.

We have several options as to how you can achieve whiter teeth, gently!

  • The first option is take home tooth-whitening kits. Impressions are taken and trays are individually made in house. The pack includes these trays and a 7ml tube of bleach.
  • The second option is in-chair whitening.  This procedure takes approximately 90 minutes and we use a product that has many advantages over traditional whitening systems. The natural tooth whitening process at Dent8 Dental contains a neutral pH technology instead of the usual acidic bleaching systems. This, combined with the sea mineral content in natural tooth whitening also minimizes dehydration of tooth enamel. The light used to activate the whitening gel is a “cool” light that is designed to minimize irritation of the tooth nerve that can occur with traditional light activation systems that generate heat.

Call our practice if you have any questions, and we will be glad to advise on the best course of treatment.
